The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship
candidate in Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, said that the party’s
presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), would inherit “a
broken economy” if elected.
While he, El-Rufai, will inherit “a bankrupt state”.
According to Punch, the politician made the claim at an Organised Private Sector interactive session held 27 January in Kaduna.
He disclosed that the state’s domestic liabilities correspond N106bn owed to various sources adding that most of the money received are used for debts.
El-Rufai insisted that Nigeria is in crisis and and compared the situation with the one which took place in 1983.
“General Muhammadu Buhari will be inheriting a broken economy like he did in 1983, just like I am going to likely inherit a bankrupt state when we take over power.”
Regarding this plans in the office, El-Rufai vowed to develop human capital and ensure free and compulsory 9-year education for all Kaduna children. Apart from that, the APC candidate promised increased salaries to teachers.
