Boko Haram Rampages Near Cameroonian Border

 At least 70 civilians and six soldiers were killed by Islamic Boko Haram sect in an attack on the Cameroonian border town of Fotokol, AFP reports.

According to Cameroonian security source, “there are many (dead) civilians, nearly 70. The toll for the soldiers stands at six.”

Suspected PDP Thugs Attack Ahmed’s, Saraki's Convoy

Political thugs, suspected to be from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) February 4 attacked the convoy of Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and senator Bukola Saraki.

According to The Nation, two members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were shot and many others injured in the incident which occurred at Isapa, Ekiti LGA.
Saraki, representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, and Ahmed were campaigning in the LGA when the attack was launched.

Speaking February 4 in Lagos during the lecture delivered in honour of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Enoch Adeboye to mark his 73rd birthday, pastor Osinbajo said that Christian leaders have a duty to stand for the poor in the country.

5 Boko Haram Victims Tested Positive To HIV/AIDS

Five Boko Haram victims living in the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State, have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

The leader of a non-governmental organisation, the Business and Professional Women, Ismaila Watila, revealed the data on February 4, 2015 speaking with journalist in Maiduguri.
Watila said that 1,000 people were tested in the camp and five of them, unfortunately, were tested positive. He also added that the 1,000 IDPs were screened for malaria as well.

NECO releases Nov/Dec 2014 SSCE results

Contrary to results recorded in recent years, the National Examinations Council (NECO) Nov/Dec 2014 SSCE results, released on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, have shown that Nigerian students have done remarkably well.
According to the registrar/chief executive of the council, Professor Promise Okpala, who announced the results in Minna yesterday, 52.94% of the candidates had a Credit in English and 55.37% in Mathematics, which was a tremendous improvement from previous years.
The registrar disclosed that out of the 63,445 who registered for the examinations, 61,386 eventually sat for the examinations, with 30.57% recording Credits and above.

A breakdown of results recorded in the core subjects shows that out of the 53, 848 who sat for Biology 26,947 obtained a pass with Credit which represents 50.04%. Also, out of the 28,250 candidates who sat for Chemistry 14,858 passed with Credit representing 51.62%, while 28,222 sat for Physics with 57 passing at Credit level which represents 0.20%.
