The onslaught occurred a day after Nigeria received troops from neigbour Chad to flush the militants out of Gamboru, which situates near Fotokol on the other side of a bridge.
According to Chad’s army officials more than 200 Boko Haram insurgents were killed in the involvement.
But some of terrorists fled and attacked again.

Witnesses said Boko Haram militants slit civilians’ throats and then set on fire local mosque.
They burnt houses and killed civilians as well as soldiers,” another source said.
After several hours of fight Cameroonian troops, backed by Chadian forces who disorganized back from Nigeria to help guard the town, managed to repel the attack.
People are coming back little by little to assess the damage. The survivors among the attackers have left the town,” witness said.

The Boko Haram sect has stepped up its assaults in past weeks, in a move considered to be intention of disrupting the February presidential poll.
The insurgentss have tried, in vain, to take the strategical northeastern town of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, twice in the past week.
