Osinbajo Delivers Birthday Lecture In Adeboye's Honour

The All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate, Yemi Osinbajo, expressed confidence that Nigerian Christians have power to influence government policies to improve the life of people.

Speaking February 4 in Lagos during the lecture delivered in honour of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Enoch Adeboye to mark his 73rd birthday, pastor Osinbajo said that Christian leaders have a duty to stand for the poor in the country.
According to Premium Times, he explained his position regarding how people might influence the authorities:

“We have been placed in positions of greater significance. If we choose to, we have the power to influence government; to say to the government, why do we not have free health care for the poor?

“To say to government, why do we not have free education, to say to government why are you not providing for the elderly who are poor and for the disable who are poor?’”
Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate also urged people to live their lives for others as Christ exemplified adding that true prosperity comes from sacrifice and genuine commitment to humanity.
“Serving others is sacrifice of personal ambitions for the good of others. The sacrifice of personal ambitions is crucial and a way of greatness.”
He praised Adeboye for being a true man of God and abandoning his personal ambitions.
Adeboye, on his part, thanked all the organizers of the occasion and those in attendance. The cleric recommended everyone to dedicate their lives to serving God saying that Jesus is answer to all the questions.
“Whatever I am today is because of only one secret; somewhere along the line I met the Lord Jesus Christ and I surrendered my life unto him and He has done the rest.
“My advice to anyone that might be here who wants to become an influence in the society is give your life to Jesus Christ; that is the only secret.
“Jesus is the way out of problems, He is the way into joy and victory, He is the way forward, and He is the way upward. If you lift up Jesus Christ, He will promote you, and when Jesus is the one promoting you He promote you everlastingly.”
Meanwhile in his yesterday’s Facebook message Adeboye reacted to the recent reports that some Christian pastors received bribes from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the elections. He warned his colleagues against acting in such a way.
“I Read in the Newspaper this morning that one of the serving Governors in Nigeria said that some Pastor(S) in Nigeria collected 6 Billion Naira from politicians for the purpose of influencing their members to vote a certain candidate in the coming Elections.
“May I humbly request that if there be any Pastor(S) who collected such money they should please return such as quickly as possible before the fire of the almighty consumes you.”
