INEC: Protest in Ibadan over deployment of Akeju to Oyo

Hundreds of people believed to be members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord Party, Labour Party (LP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) yesterday staged a peaceful protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State and rejected the posting of Ambassador Rufus Akeju as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the state.

Supreme Court upholds Kaka’s election

The Supreme Court has confirmed the election of the senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Alhaji Gbenga Kaka.
In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by Chief Adebisi Adegbuyi against Kaka’s election as a senator for lacking merit.

A group in Rivers State, the Rivers Elders and Leaders Council, which has been clamouring  that  governorship position be zoned  to  the Riverine area, has  given the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) up to January 5, 2015  to substitute Chief Nyesom Wike,   with a Riverine candidate, or face  mass defection to any party  which  fields  a Riverine person as  its candidate.
