TUC Condenms Senate Over Convicted Soldiers

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has condemned the Nigerian Senate for showing blind eyes to the predicament of the 12 soldiers sentenced to death by a military tribunal after being convicted of mutiny.
The condemnation, which was made at the congress, was contained in a statement jointly issued on Thursday, by its President and Secretary, Bobboi Kaigama and Musa Lawal.Soldiers Standing Trial For Mutiny
The congress faulted the decision by the Senate not to intervene in the case of the condemned soldiers, on the ground that the circumstances that led to the reported incident was enough to spark such, and therefore the punishment to be meted on them should have been considered.

At least six ministers may soon quit President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet in preparation for their governorship aspiration in the forthcoming 2015 elections, Punch reports.
The affected ministers are expected to resign their appointments in order to pursue their governorship ambitions on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.

According to the source, the member of the major Nigeria’s opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC), Buhari was said to have made all the preparations for the declaration, which is expected to be made on October 8 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

Names Of Chibok Girls To Be Swapped; Abandoned Girl Pregnant

New hope for the nation has appeared again as it was learnt yesterday that Boko Haram listed 19 sect commanders for the swap with 30 Chibok girls, whose names were also provided.

The Nation reports with reference to its source that the Nigerian government and the coordinators of talks with the group have this list.
Apart from 19 key commanders names, the list includes 30 girls, who may be released to test the government’s commitment, after which the remaining 189 children could be set free.

Residents In Bariga Lament Over Flooding

Contrary to the relief that rainfall brings, residents in Bariga area of Lagos State have been experiencing untold hardship due to heavy flooding in the community whenever it rains.
According to experience of residents in the area, anytime it rains, as much as the people are excited, they are always confronted with the fear of witnessing another  unprecedented flooding.

Only few days ago, there was anxiety in the community because of huge pool of water that gathered right from Idi Aba B/stop down the road to Oloja street after a heavy rainfall in the area.
Narrating their ordeal, residents of Olorunkemi street, just along the Oloja street, explained how they have always dreaded the rainy season because of  what they always go through in the area whenever it rains.
“Recently, a girl was almost washed away by the flood, that is how massive it is here,” one of the residents in the area, Mrs Kuburat, said.
“The major problem we have in this community is the canal at Bajulaiye because when it overflows, it caused a lot of flooding to places like Oloja.
“And when this happens, it caused a lot of  flooding in the area.
