Acting Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Rotimi Olulana, has said the party will not concede its presidential slot to rival political parties next year.
In 2011, the party adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate.
But speaking at the unveiling of the party’s candidates in Lagos, the LP chief said the party would contest all elective positions in 2015.
He said this was in view of the fact that the party had the capacity to win the coming polls.
Consequently, he urged LP members to be wary of their dealings with its members that defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the LP had no pact with the party.
The party in 2011 gave former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) sleepless nights following its decision to adopt Governor Babatunde Fashola as its governorship candidate.
The LP, he said, still had the same magic and would unleash the same in 2015 elections.
Continuing, he lamented that the defection of Governor Mimiko had affected LP’s fortunes as it negatively impacted on the party.
He, however, said the party had positioned itself to win at various levels in the coming general elections.
Specifically, he said Lagos LP had gone to every nook and cranny of the state to mobilize more members as part of its readiness.
This, Olulana added, had greatly assisted the party in attracting party members to vie for elective positions.
The Lagos LP boss said this was not surprising in view of the fact that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was anti-people in terms of programmes and policies in the state.
