Mother Tries To Bury 1-Day-Old Baby Alive In Akwa Ibom

Police in Akwa Ibom State saved a day-old baby boy, whose mother wanted to bury him alive.
The woman arrested in connection with the crime allegedly tried to bury the child in a shallow grave in Afaha Abia Village of Nsit Ibom LGA, Leadership reports.
The state Police Commissioner Gabriel Achong made this known yesterday, September 25, while briefing journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom capital.
“Patience on Sept. 14, 2014 did bury her one-day-old baby boy in a shallow grave. The baby was rescued alive.”
Speaking about the work of the command in the last 2 months, Achong said that 37 suspects were arrested over various offences and 4 stolen children were rescued and reunited with their families.
It would be recalled that earlier this month a 65-year-herbalist buried alive the woman and her 10-year-old daughter in Ogun State.
The suspect did not provide any motives, but attributed the act to the evil spirits saying:
“It’s the devil. I didn’t do it with my normal mind.”
