10-year-old Nigerian Girl Enrolled On Open University

Meet a talented 10-year-old Nigerian girl, Esther Okade, who has been recently accepted to study for a university maths degree.

Esther spends her free time in a similar way to many other girls of her age. She is playing with Barbie dolls and making loom bands. But the main difference between the girl and other 10-year-old children is that she has been accepted to study for a university maths degree – despite not going to school.

Jonathan Speaks About Meetings With Yoruba Obas


A presidential candidate of the PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan, who held meetings with the traditional rulers behind closed doors on Friday and Saturday, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome.
The President in a Facebook message said: “Over the weekend, I visited his Royal Highness, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III. I also visited the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III. At both occasions, I was overwhelmed by the reception given to my entourage and I by the Obas and the people of both Oyo and Ogbomosho.

“The outpouring of love and support I encountered at both cities strengthened my belief in the unity of this great nation, Nigeria. I thank their Royal Majesties and my dear people of Oyo and Ogbomosho for receiving me so graciously. May God bless Nigeria. GEJ.”
Reportedly, Jonathan asked the Obas to support him in his desire to be re-elected. As part of last efforts to win the March 28 elections, President Goodluck Jonathan was asked to sign an undertaking with leaders of the South-West.

The professor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria was killed after he had been mistaken for a Boko Haram insurgent. Details of the situation are still sketchy. Initially it was provided that the police had killed the victim believed to be a militant. However, soon the police said that Prof Falaki had been stabbed by the mob.

Lagosians Are not Under APC Bondage

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has responded to allegations by President Goodluck Jonathan that Lagosians are under the bondage of the All Progressive Congress, APC, which can only be broken by the election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming governorship elections.

I Want To Win An Olypmic Gold - Lagos State 800m Champ

Emmanuel Obuh was a relatively unknown name in the world of sports before the last Lagos State Secondary Sports Competition, tagged, ‘Ibile Games’.
During the competition, Obuh won the 800m event to emerge as the state champion from the long distance race and subsequently got a gold medal for his efforts. At the inter-house sports competition of the International School of the University of Lagos, ISL, held on Thursday, he broke the school records in the 800m and 1500m long distance events to show what stuff he was really made of.

The Senior Secondary School, SSS2 Student of ISL won the 800m race under 2:09.6se0c, while he breasted the tape for the 1500m event in 4:39.5sec to set new school records.

Babalakin Free Of N4.7 Billion Fraud Charge


Lagos High Court, Ikeja has removed the N4.7 billion fraud suit instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission against Wale Babalakin, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and acquitted him.
The EFCC had charged Babalakin, Alex Okoh and their companies on a 27 count  charge of fraud, conspiracy, and retention of proceeds of criminal conduct.

Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo read the ruling and revealed that the EFCC had not succeeded to maintain the allegations against the defendants.
