Nigerians React To PDP Begging Obasanjo

The political tension created in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s dramatic exit from the party on Monday February 16, still lingers on.

President Jonathan and Obasanjo.
The Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who said he was in a closed door meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday, hinted that the party will go and beg the former president who wants to become just an ‘elder statesman’ to return and forgive whatever wrong doing the grand children may committed.

Following the disclosure by Lamido, some Nigerians, however, shared diverse opinion on the planned move by the party and also used the opportunity to condemn Jigawa state governor.
According to Dan Arewa, “We all thank God for bringing Jonathan into PDP, If not him who would have killed PDP so easily and quickly”?
Suleiman Adamu, who condemned the Jonathan-led administration for its alleged corruption said: “Mr. Lamido baba is against the mismanagement of PDP by Jonathan, instead of you to support, you are busy campaigning for his re-election. Your days are numbered come March.”
Chinedu Nsofor is of the opinion that Obasanjo is an accomplished man who has done a lot for Nigeria, but his recent criticism is a symptom of old age.
“Baba (Obasanjo) is an icon, an inventor and a creator of every institution in Nigeria!! His unrelenting criticism is a manifestation of old age!!! Lamido is speaking from both sides of his mouth. If Baba is suffering from dementia, old peoples’ sickness, why do you want him back since he has departed from being an icon, an inventor and a creator and is now having the old age sickness? The same sickness they say makes Buhari ineligible! What do you want to do with a wasted old man? Or is this another insult? Come out straight and tell us what you want Baba for,” he said.
Egi Hamadu, however, noted that the fact that the former president had gone to the extent of tearing off his party membership card in public indicates that he had definitely meditated over it for long.
Mohammed Ababakar said he thinks begging Obasanjo will show how loyal PDP are to him, adding that it is like more of pouring a burning coal on his head, while Precious Onuoha expressed believed that Lamido has spoken well hence, Obasanjo should settle his differences with his children and stop criticizing and creating room for frustrated opposition party to speak ill of Jonathan’s administration.
Meanwhile, some of the people that spoke also used the opportunity to take a swipe at Lamido and accused him of corruption.
Mohammed Suleiman alleged that Lamido is deceiving himself and pretending about the eminent change that is coming because his sons are under the scrutiny of EFCC.
Shariff, who also blasted the governor, accused him of lying, saying: “You are a liar; you cannot just wish Apc away and brand them as aggregate of pains, anger and frustration just because you want to please GEJ in order to cover your money laundry case hanging over neck and that of your family. You can call the oppositions any name you wish, the day of reckoning is around the corner.”
Dan hamidu mayor said: “Lamido, I think you are going brain dead. With all the darkness, lootings, and killings taking place daily to think of PDP returning to power in Nigeria. God forbid bad thing.”
Dr Lawal Usman Bagiwa said: “a voice of a hypocrite always speaks for them. I think Sule Lamido is still at utopian level. Let him continue to protect his children from EFCC until change sweeps them.”
Recall that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) recently described former President Obasanjo as an embarrassment to the Nigerian military.
