The minister of youth development and former governor
of Adamawa state, Boni Haruna, broke down yesterday after seeing the
widespread destruction done to some villages by Boko Haram in Adamawa
state.
The minister was part of a federal government delegation sent to carry out first hand inspection of areas that have been recaptured from Boko Haram in the northeast, with a view to rehabilitating the area and the villagers who are already returning to their villages.
Members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect are said to have attacked Gaya village in Hong local government area of Adamawa state in the early hours of Thursday.
Investigations revealed that the rampaging insurgents killed 30 people from the village, said to be located near the Sambisa Forest.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan, said the Boko Haram insurgency will change in two weeks’ time. He made this statement at the meeting with members of the Yoruba Council of Elders at the State House, Marina, Lagos.
