Imo CP works for state PDP –Okorocha

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has accused the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali of working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against other political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said that such glaring partiality does not reflect the state police command as a federal agency, whose responsibility is to protect everybody.

Okorocha made the allegation while donating five Hilux vans to the sate Police Command to assist them in their duties of  fighting crime in the state. The governor said it was shocking that the police in the state provided unparalleled security protection for the Imo PDP before, during and days after their primaries, but failed to do same to APC and other political parties in the state that also carried out the same exercise.
He disclosed that as governor he had never interfered in the operations of the security agencies in the state because of his firm belief that they were meant to protect the interest of all Nigerians irrespective of their political leanings.
Okorocha appealed to federal institutions in the state to appreciate the fact that  they should protect all Nigerians irrespective of their political party, stressing that Imo people including the youths, market women, students, traders, artisans, taxi and Keke Napep operators would forever defend what is right in the state including protecting  their votes in the 2015 elections.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ali said the police in the state under his command would not be partisan, but would only ensure a level playing field for all including political parties, and added that the police in the state would ensure protection of lives and property during the 2015 elections in the state.
