Northern Group Condemns Buhari’s Endorsement By Elders


A group, Concerned Northern Youths Forum (CNYF), has condemned the reported endorsement of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd) by Northern Elders Forum (NEF).

CNYF National Chairman, AlKasim Charanchi, while addressing press conference in Bauchi at the weekend, said the group throw its weight behind the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan, ThisDay reports.

The Family of Nigeria’s former President, Shehu Shagari has reacted angrily to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the alleged endorsement of its presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan.

The reaction which is the second in a row was contained in a statement issued by the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation on Friday, a copy obtained by The Nation.
APC said Capt. Bala Shagari (rtd), the eldest son of the former President warned the leadership of the PDP to stop dragging the name of his father into the politics of endorsement of their presidential candidate.

Steven Gerrard To Mark His 700th Appearance For Liverpool


Former England captain, Steven Gerrard, plans to wear a pair of special boots to mark his 700th appearance for Liverpool.
The Reds captain will make his 700th appearance when Liverpool takes on West Ham United on Saturday, January 31. Ahead of this match, he took to his Instagram account to show off his new Predator boots which has the landmark number – ‘700’ – stitched to it.

If Elected Buhari Promises Safety For All


The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), on Friday at the APC presidential campaign rally at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, said his priority would become fighting insecurity in the country if elected.
Addressing people at the rally, Buhari said that first of all they have to secure Nigeria. “What we are witnessing in the North-East, where people are being killed, is not acceptable. We know the Nigerian military is capable of bringing peace and stability to this country. They need to be given the leadership and that is what I promise, if elected,” he said.
Moreover, the APC presidential candidate promised to fix the country’s infrastructure deficit,  strengthen the nation’s economy and eradicate corruption. He also promised to create employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the country and also to give special infrastructural support to Lagos, being a former capital if elected. The All Progressives Congress has rubbished the reports by the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, that APC presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari was stoned at the party’s campaign held in Lagos today, January 30.
Senator Obanikoro had issued a statement on twitter condemning the alleged stoning of Buhari on the Lagos Island, where the APC presidential candidate and other party leaders went to pay homage to the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.
