Reports just coming in from Ogun State say that the
fear of armed robbery attacks has gripped commercial banks in Ijebu Ode,
Ago Iwoye and other surrounding towns.
According to a report published by PM NEWS, commercial banks in Ijebu
Igbo and Ago Iwoye, the university town in Ogun state, were shut for
the second day on Tuesday over fears of robbery attacks.
It was disclosed that banks in these areas refused to open because
the armoured personnel carrier (APC), that the police use to give them
protection from bandits was not deployed in the area.
However, it is understood that the APC donated by Governor Ibikunle Amosun to the Nigerian police was not functional.
According to the report, banks within the Ijebu axis were not
operating due to security concerns before the advent of the
administration of Governor Amosun.
