Ex-militants hold Delta deputy gov hostage

Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, was yesterday held hostage at the Government House annex, Warri by aggrieved former militants who were protesting alleged undue delay in the payment of their monthly allowances by the amnesty office.

Buhari versus Jonathan: Who wins the race?

With the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC ) over, the stage is set for next year’s general elections. Even though there are many political parties in Nigeria, political observers are in agreement that the 2015 power struggle will be between the PDP and the APC which, unarguably, is the main opposition party in the nation.

Ondo community boils as truck kills 2

The sleepy town of Oka-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State was recently engulfed in crisis as youths protested the death of two of their colleagues killed in an accident by a truck belonging to a Lagos based manufacturing company.
In the melee, not fewer than 10 houses were affected by the fire set on the truck by the aggrieved youths, who bemoaned the frequent rate of accidents on the road.
