Jonathan Fires PEF Boss

The last minute appointments by President Jonathan claimed another casualty yesterday, May 5, after the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF), Mrs Sharon Adefunke Kasali was sacked.

In April, President Jonathan fired Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba and replaced him with Solomon Arase
Making this known in a statement, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati announced her immediate replacement with the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development Mrs. Asabe Asmau Ahmed.

According to The Nation, the new PEF Executive Secretary hails from Niger State and holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, respectively.
Similarly, the president also approved the appointment of Denzil Amagbe Kentebe as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Management Development Board (NCDMB).
Mr. Kentebe, according to Premium Times is an architect with years of experience in strategic planning and policy management, takes over from Ernest Nwapa who has been Executive Secretary of the NCDMB since April 2010.
With less than one month to go, the outgoing administration of President Jonathan has effected some key political changes, among them are a new managing director for the Nigerian Ports Authority, new leaders for the Securities and Exchange Commission, federal commissioners to mention just a few.
The All Progressives Congress has however described these political changes as dubious, saying the president should be more focused on his transition programme rather than solidifying his hold on power.
