The current Governor Of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha on
Friday last week, gave out free laptops to the students of Imo State
University.
A
lot of students trooped to the government house to get their own share
of the state’s cake. However a few days after they received the laptops
several students were aggrieved by the quality of laptop that they got
and called it toys.
The students took to their Facebook page to express their disappointment and anger.
In reaction to gesture by the governor, Justice Onuoha said:
“THE TOY LAPTOP
This man has proved to imolites again that he is deceitful. How could you give Imostars toy & call it laptop.
-A laptop that cannot boot until you charge it.
-A laptop that has no space to insert disk,no RGB or HDMI port.
-A laptop that lacks several features.
-A laptop that the RAM is less than 128Mb
-A laptop that will be destroyed by virus immediately it connects to internet.
-Some did not boot till today.
-some got spoilt that day.
It is because of those valueless toy that many Imostars lost their valuables,some injured & others fainted while standing under the sun on fridar @Government House. Many of the laptops are malfunctioning according to those who received it.Some students are even saying it’s not laptop but android phone but everybody knows that what is written on the carton is “FREE LAPTOP”.
There is an adage that says”whatever is worth doing is worth doing well”. How can a sitting governor give those valueless & worthless toy to Imostars(the future of this state) to enhance learning? It is only a mediocre that will accept such laptop(toy) & applaud the governor.Can this happen in other states? Why can’t our governor Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha be real for once & stop deceiving imolites? Imolites are still complaining about the China roads, substandand structures erected in the state & yet he shared toy(laptop) to Imostars. If you cannot give us a qualitative education,give us quality laptops we are not mediocre.”
Governor Rochas Okorocha is the current governor of Imo State, Nigeria who won the May 6, 2011 gubernatorial election in Imo State. He ran on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform. defeated his closest rival, former governor Ikedi Ohakim, by a close margin of votes.
Okorocha’s giant strides in the educational sector all over Nigeria are well-documented. Almost 10 years ago, he founded his non-governmental organisation (NGO) named “Rochas Foundation,” to give hope to less privileged children through quality education.
