Yakubu Aiyegbeni has returned to English football for the first time since leaving to Qatar.
The prolific striker who was niknamed Yakubull due to his aggresive style of play signed for Reading as a free agent till the end of the season.
This makes Reading the sixth English team he is kitting up for.
He last played for Al Rayyan in Qatar and in England he played for Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City, and Blackburn Rovers.
He left Ewood Park 3 years ago for Guangzhou FC in Chinese football, He had scored 17 goals in 29 Premeir league games for Blackburn despite the team getting relegated.
The Reading manager, Steve Clarke, told the Reading website: “Yakubu brings a fantastic scoring record to this club and his addition will complement the strikers we’ve already got and help us to improve as a team in latter stages of the season.
“I know all about him as a player and I have heard very good reports about him as a personality in the dressing room. He is no-risk signing for us and I look forward to him scoring goals.”
Reading are 16th in the table, only seven points above the relegation zone and Clarke will hope Yakabu – who has scored nearly 150 goals in English football – can instantly find form.
