Please Don't Sell Your PVCs, Buhari’s wife Tells Women

Barely ten days before the all important general elections hold across Nigeria, the wife of the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Mrs. Aishatu Buhari, has urged Nigerian women to resist the temptation of selling their voter cards.
Mrs. Buhari, who made the appeal through the Coordinator of the APC Women Presidential Campaign Initiative, Hajia Salamatu Jibril, at the sensitisation workshop in Abuja, also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to shift the February 14 date for the presidential election.
According to Punch newspaper report online, she stressed the importance of women participating actively in the general elections.

She enjoined all women not to only cast their votes but also ensure that they guard their votes jealously until the results were announced.

“In view of this, I urge all to obtain your Permanent Voter Cards and also enjoin others to also get theirs to enable them to vote for the party during election.
“More importantly is that you also recognise the logo and know how to thumb print appropriately to prevent void votes. I also want to appeal to you not to sell your vote to any party as it is the only weapon you can use to drive the PDP out of governmentm,” Mrs Buhari stated.

Mrs. Buhari also appealed to women to warn their children against taking part in acts of violence, before, during and after the elections.
In her words: “I also want to acknowledge your highly influential role as mothers, particularly on your households, and therefore urge you to caution your children to shun any form of violence before, during and after the elections.”
According to Mrs Buhari, women are the most vulnerable in the society especially during crisis.

She enjoined APC leaders to sensitise women on the need to recognise the party’s symbol and thump print their ballot papers correctly.

It would be recalled that Mrs Buhari had last week called on Nigerian women to work for peaceful general elections.

Aishatu who made the call on Friday in Yola, Adamawa State capital while addressing an APC Women Presidential Campaign Initiative town hall meeting, said women have a critical role to play towards a peaceful election and victory of APC at all levels.
According to her:“It is also imperative, for us to educate our party members on peaceful conduct before, during and after elections.We should avoid violence in all its ramifications because this is one area that the ruling party is looking up to discredit the efforts and successes of our party.”
