Jonathan Assures Nigerians On Boko Haram War

President Goodluck Jonathan has addressed Nigerians over the on-going war between the Nigerian army and  Boko Haram forces in the Northern part of Nigeria.

In a post on Facebook President Jonathan said the fight against Boko Haram was now at a critical stage.

The President thanked Nigerians for their support of the armed forces for the fight against Boko Haram insurgents. The president also used the deadly Ebola Virus Disease as a reference point to call on Nigerians to join hands to fight the Boko Haram forces.
The president also begged Nigerians to put the country first in their priority list and make all other interest second to the interest of Nigeria. “We must thus ensure that we put her first in everything we do at these critical times by subjugating all other interests to hers. GEJ.”
The Statement reads in full:
“My dear friends on Facebook, I want to seize this opportunity to thank you and other Nigerians for your continued support of our armed forces as they prosecute the war on terror. This war has now reached a critical stage as we are partnering with our neighbors in West Africa and in Africa as a whole to prosecute the anti terror campaign.
“I therefore ask for the cooperation of all Nigerians because, just as we learned with the Ebola Virus Disease, we will not defeat terror unless we defeat it together! Let us pray for the gallant men and women of our armed forces and support them by providing information and by refraining from any action that will undermine their efforts and jeopardize their lives. We sleep on our beds at night because they sleep in the open.
“We must honour the memory of our fallen soldiers by ennobling their sacrifice with our thoughts, words and actions. Nigeria is our only country and we are her only people. We must thus ensure that we put her first in everything we do at these critical times by subjugating all other interests to hers. GEJ.”
Federal Government has stepped up its fight against Boko Haram in the past week after announcing that the February elections will not hold due to insecurity in the north.
Ever since the announcement the insurgents have also increased their terror; they have attacked Gombe in numbers (though they were later repelled), they have also attacked the largest Southern Borno town called Biu.
