Christian Association In North-East Endorses Buhari

Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Muhammadu Buhari has been endorsed by the North-East Zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Shu’aibu Byal, the North East Zone of CAN Chairman made the endorsement when members of Arewa Citizens Action for Change (ACAC), paid him a courtesy call in Bauchi on Wednesday.
Shu’aibu Byal urged Christians and Muslims in the north to join forces to ensure that the leadership of the country returned to the north in the forthcoming elections

Shu’aibu Byal stated: ”In the north, we have a challenge, our parents and great grand parents have left a bad legacy that has not helped our youths, and they have not promoted our young people. Today, the leadership is not in the north and we want to bring it in by whatever means possible. The forefathers have not put a bedrock that will move the Muslims and Christians in the region towards togetherness and I pray for the north and its unity”.
Founder of the largest charismatic church in Europe, Pastor Sunday Adelaja also supports the candidature of Buhari. Adelaja the founder and senior pastor of Kiev-based Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations. The church plays an active role in the life of Ukraine with more than 700 churches in over 45 countries and was an influencing factor in the Ukrainian Orange Revolution.
The Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly and Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, Pastor Tunde Bakare has also express the support to the APC candidate. In his sermon titled “The Sweet And Sour Ministry Of The Prophet”, Bakare said: “A prophet is sent to bring change not build consensus,” adding that “ whenever you compromise what is right in order to gain acceptance with men, you lose acceptance with God.”
However, it should be noted that the endorsement looks a little bit strange because in 2013 the National General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Dr. Musa Asake, stated that “former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, should be arrested and questioned for his alleged link with the Boko Haram sect.”
The Christian Association of Nigeria urged: “The Christian Association of Nigeria recently called for the arrest of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari because of his recent criticism of the emergency rule in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, and the clamp down on the Boko Haram sect. Does CAN think Buhari’s statement is enough to link him to the violent sect?Buhari said killing Boko Haram members and destroying their houses was unjust. My question is did he say anything about the victims of the activities of Boko Haram? The answer is no. That is why we believe that statement is a clear indication that he has connections with them and he is trying to defend them.”
