Incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan with his
campaign team from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) visited Jigawa
State capital today, January 21st, ahead of February presidential poll.
While addressing the crowd of supporters, President Jonathan promised Nigerians that they would continue to enjoy freedom as obtained in the Constitution of Nigeria under his administration, if won.

Jonathan said freedom was a good part of democracy which every Nigerian must enjoy, continuing that “democracy is all about freedom and any democracy without it is not democracy.’’

He further called the people of the state to elect PDP aspirants in the February polls, noting that his party had worked at all levels to develop the country.

The President added that PDP administration had setted federal and state universities in the state within four years.

Jonathan said that 80 per cent of the state universities in the country are built by PDP-ruled states.

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa, who also was present at the rally, said he would work for the unity of Nigeria and would not support or vote on sentiments.

It should be noted that the key opponent of the incumbent President Jonathan presidential candidate from the All Progressive Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, also visited Jigawa State only the day before PDP rally.
The state, which has the majority of supporters of the ruling party, meanwhile, gave the General warm welcome.
