President Jonathan Praises Nigerian Farmers


President Goodluck Jonathan, while visiting Plateau state with campaign for February general election, has received farmer tools as a gift from the Gbong Gwom of Jos.

President Jonathan, who is seeking re-election under the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been governing Nigeria since 2010.

The head of the country took to his Facebook page recent achievements of in agriculture, saying he is very proud to eat rice grown in Nigeria.
He said: “With pride, I am able to again affirm, I eat rice grown in Nigeria. It is a matter of honour that more and more of the rice eaten in Nigeria now originates from Nigeria.”

The incumbent President added that main restaurants and hotel chains report to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture that they cannot meet the demand for locally grown rice.

It would be recalled that a group of yam farmers vowed to support the key opponent of Jonathan – presidential candidate from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd).
