Seppi had started off well and won the first two sets with Federer fighting to still be in the match.
The 33 year old Swiss then won the third set but Seppi held on to defeat the legend.
“I just tried my best and it was one of my best matches for sure,” said Seppi.

“I just tried to enjoy playing on centre court (Rod Laver Arena) because it’s not often I get the chance,” the 30-year old added.
“I was focusing on my service games as I was not getting many chances on his.
“The tie-break was great, especially the last point. I did not think I would get the ball. I thought it was a winner so I don’t know how I hit a winner.”
Roger Federer is a Swiss professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 2 by the Association of Tennis Professionals
