The governor of Plateau state, Jonah David Jang, has
asked the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Gen
Muhammadu Buhari, to give up his presidential ambition as he has
contested three times for the post and failed.
Jang, who spoke at the PDP Northern Zone Plateau State women’s rally held at the weekend at the WAYE Foundation, Doi, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, said Buhari should withdraw from the race, Daily Sun reports.
“I believe that Baba Buhari should surrender. He is a great
Nigerian. He was a military Head of State; we fought the civil war
together. But Nigerians are saying allow us. He should find out why they
are saying ‘allow us’,” he said.
According to the governor, the majority of the people in the APC were members of the PDP before they defected.
He said the nation could not be entrusted to people who keep moving from one party to the other or that are ganging up against their own party.
Meanwhile, Damishi Sango, former minister of sport, had earlier declared that the people of Plateau State will vote for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the general elections.
A group with the name, Middle Belt Dialogue (MBD), also voiced their support for President Jonathan, saying they will vote for him even though he disappointed the zone during his first term in office.
Buhari, a former head of state, in December 2014 emerged as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2015 elections.
Buhari has been contesting for the presidency since 2003, and has been beaten by the PDP three consecutive times.
