14 killed in Gov Dakwambo’s convoy


The police in Bauchi yesterday confirmed 14 persons were killed in an accident involving the convoy of Gombe State Governor Dakwambo.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Haruna Mohammed, in a statement said the accident occurred about 7 pm yesterday along Bauchi/Gombe Federal highway in Alkareri LGA. Mohammed said three Hummer buses and a motorcycle were gutted by fire.
The accident claimed 14 lives who where burnt beyond recognition, he said. Police patrol team attached to Alkaleri Division visited the scene, cleared obstruction and evacuated the casualties to Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, he noted.
He said the case is under investigation.
Meanwhile, nine suspects have been arrested for disturbing the peace of the state during the rally of President Goodluck Jonathan. The PPRO said the command will not fold its arm and watch disgruntled elements disrupt public peace in the state. Groups or individuals desiring and preparing to cause chaos are warned to desist as any breach of public peace will attract severe legal consequences, he warned.
