The award, organised by The Sun Publishing Limited, will be formally presented on January 17, 2015 in Lagos.
Speaking in his country home in Okija, Anambra State, while receiving a letter formally notifying him of the honour, Azudialu described The Sun award as a great honour to him.
He said: “This award is very pleasing to me because it is coming from The Sun. I have been careful in the type of awards I receive, especially now that we are in an era where awards are on sale, but this award is very pleasing to me.
“The Sun award is an award I will be glad to receive because it will give me the opportunity to strive harder to touch lives. I am most delighted as the award is unsolicited.”
Azudialu said he never had prior knowledge of the award until it was announced and people started calling to congratulate him.
“I must say that nobody told me in advance that I was going to be named as The Sun award winner. I only knew about it on the day it was announced and people started calling me to say that they saw my photograph in The Sun as one of the award winners,” he said.
Speaking earlier, The Sun Publishing Limited Executive Director, Corporate Services, Mr. Steve Nwosu, told Azudialu, while presenting the notification letter, on behalf of the Managing Director Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Femi Adesina, that his choice was in recognition of his contributions to the economic development of the country.
Nwosu, who was accompanied by Editor, Daily Sun, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, said the award was a celebration of excellence, in recognition of accomplished Nigerians who have done well in their respective endeavours.
