Mark spoke at the inauguration of a new Internet provider, Spectranet Limited, located within the premises of the National Assembly in Abuja. The Senate President, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Senator Anthony Manzo, commended the new Internet provider for bringing to the country Internet services that could be comparable to anywhere in the world.
The Senate President, however, insisted that Internet services should be used wisely, especially for the development and growth of the country’s economy. Chief Operating Officer of Spectranet, Mr. Atul Ojha, said the technology of his company was equivalent to the best technology anywhere in the world.
…Charges Nigerian women on golf
It is common knowledge that Senate President, David Mark, loves sports with a passion. While I cannot claim here to know the sport he loves best, I can, at least, judging by his public statements, wager that he loves football and golf more.
I cannot even vouch which one of the two he loves the more. Anyway, penultimate weekend, at the second edition of the Otukpo Ladies Open, held at the Otukpo Golf and Country Club, Akpegede, Benue State, Senator Mark seized the opportunity to request that the tempo of women playing the game should soar rather than diminish.
Senator Mark, who spoke through his wife, Helen, who, incidentally, is the Lady Captain of the Otukpo Golf and Country Club and hostess of the tournament, expressed optimism that with the current improvement in the game of golf, Nigeria would soon produce world-class golfers, who would be the pride of the African continent.
Major winners at the tournament included Best Gross-Amina Winfred of IBB International Golf Club, Abuja; Best Net- Osinachi E. of Air Assault, Port Harcourt; Veteran Category- Sokpo A. of Makurdi Golf club; among others.
