The camp of the Super Eagles which opened Monday in Abuja got a boost with the arrival of returnee striker, Ike Uche last night.
According to the media officer of the Super Eagles, Ben Alaiya, Uche’s arrival added to the already boisterous atmosphere in camp. Hope Akpan, Sony Aluko, Sunday Emmanuel, Aaron Samuel, Raheem Lawal and Godfrey Oboabuna had breezed in earlier ahead of Uche.
Eight home based lads are also in camp to battle for a shirt in the team.
The eight home based players include goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Friday Ejomare, Gbolahan Salami and Kingsley Jokari. Others are Kwande Solomon, goals machine Emem Eduok and Christian Osagwa-Ighodalo
Uche is staging a much-talked about comeback to the Eagles after he last played for them in February 2013 against Burkina Faso.
He has been at daggers drawn with coach Stephen Keshi, who has finally bowed to pressure from the fans and media to recall him.
Officials of the team said yesterday that they expect almost a full house by Wednesday morning as several players have already arrived the country’s commercial capital city of Lagos.
“Several of the players are in Lagos. Emmanuel Emenike, Efe Armbrose and Raheem Lawal are in Lagos already,” noted a top official.
“Mikel is expected to come in tomorrow. But I am sure we will have a full house before wednesday.
The Eagles did not train yesterday as the number of players in camp was inadequate. The team’s first training holds this morning.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has disclosed that it has finalised all necessary arrangements for the Super Eagles to depart the shores of the country on Thursday.
The federation noted that the Eagles who are expected to travel aboard a chartered Discovery Airline from the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja, will likely have two training sessions in Congo before the crucial game.
