The young couple was joined in the holy matrimony by the Catholic Bishop of Okigwe Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Solomon Amatu at St Joseph’s Catholic chaplain of Imo State University,Owerri during which the Bishop charged the couple to preserve the sanctity and holiness of the marriage institution by loving one another and living Christ-like life.
Prominent among the dignitaries who graced the ceremony are former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) -Chief John Odigie Oyegun, and National leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu, a former head of state, General- Mohammadu Buhari(retd) and Chief Bisi Akande.
Others are Kano State governor-Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, former Governor of Abia state,Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, a former Governor of Nassarawa State and the incumbent Governor of the state, Alhaji Al-Makura.
Others are former governors Timiprieye Sylva and DSP Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa state, the representative of the governor of Zamfra State, Benue State first lady and a former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
Governor Rochas Okorocha expressed gratitude to all who found time to witness the ceremony.
The governor who recalled how the courtship between his daughter and her husband started and eventually blossomed into marriage paid glowing tributes to his wife Nkechi and Bishop Solomon Amatu for his humility and piety and for accepting to officiate at the wedding. He also appreciated the Anglican Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Dr. Cyril Okorocha, the Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the entire officials of the association in Imo for their good jobs.
While paying special tributes to General Buhari for his continued commitment to the unity of the country, the governor regretted that a big vacuum in Igbo leadership had been created since the death of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and Chief Sam Mbakwe and commended Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu for his courage and determination to remedy the situation.
