With reports emanating that Stephen Keshi has been
shortlisted for Burkina Faso job, news just reaching us has it that the
Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) are on the mission to stop any
possible move for the Super Eagles of Nigeria Head coach.
According to the reports, NFF are considering a possible two-year deal to convince him to stay.
The technical committee last week suggested that Keshi’s contract be extended, but the NFF executives were yet to act on it.
“What we have now is a proposal as the board can approve or change our decisions especially as it concerns the length of the contract and the conditions to meet before he can get an extension,” a board member of the NFF said.
“A lot of things were taken into consideration in reaching those decisions but we are just a group in the entire body and it is now left for the entire federation board to consider and approve.”
Keshi was this week named by the Burkina Faso Football Federation alongside Milovan Rajevac and Gernot Rhor, in the final three-man shortlist considered to replace Paul Put as their coach.
The NFF executives this week travelled to Zurich for a meeting with FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
It is now left to be seen what actions they will take on the coaching situation of the Super Eagles when they arrive.
Meanwhile, latest FIFA ranking shows that The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up one place.
