Lawyers Walk For Change in Ikorodu

A non-governmental group tagged, “Lawyers4Change” on Saturday, 21 February, went round the whole of Ikorodu, Lagos state, southwest Nigeria, to encourage people to come out and vote for the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming elections.
The group, comprising of legal practitioners from different parts of the country, stated that they are neither members of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, nor were they affiliated to the opposition.
Rather, they said that they were in support of their legal icon, Professor Yemi Osinbajo- running mate of Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.)- whom they claimed was responsible for the cleansing of the judiciary in Lagos state when he was the Attorney-General for eight years.

The ‘learned colleagues’ combed every street as they encouraged people to vote for a change at the presidency, especially with the level of corruption being perpetrated by Nigeria’s Federal Government.

National Coordinator of the group, Adesina Ogunlana, told a Naij.com correspondent who was present at the walk that, “to show you that we are not in support of any political party, there are about two members of the group who are members of PDP but they believe in the ideologies of Buhari/Osinbajo and their philosophies.

These people believe that they are the agents of the change that we desire. To show you that we are not party people, we only asked the people to vote for the candidates and not the party.

If people think that we are being sponsored by the APC, I think it will be good for the PDP to also come up with a group like ours and ask them to be Lawyers4continuity. Then we can look at ideologies and compare them”.

Recall that the Lawyers4Change group also took to the street of Ikeja, in January, to show their support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
The lawyers who were led by the National Coordinator of the Lawyers4Change, Adesina Ogunlana, walked through some major streets in Ikeja, campaigning for a change of government at the federal level when election holds on February 14.
The walk reportedly started from the Bar Centre of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja, through Oba Akinjobi Way, Oba Akran Road, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Allen Avenue, Toyin Street, Olowu Street and back to the centre.
