Parading the suspect (name withheld) with other criminals accused of housebreaking, theft and forgery before newsmen at the police headquarters, Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Ademola Omole, said offenders were apprehended with stolen items such as electronic devices by the men of the special anti robbery squad (SARS) on a routine patrol.
Omole said the suspects had made confessional statement that they belonged to a syndicated criminal group that had been responsible for robberies and burglaries in Jalingo metropolis in the period under review.
Frowning at the way people used to leave for their business and places of worship without securing their homes, the police boss urged members of the public to always furnish the police with useful information in its effort to rid the society of criminals.
The police boss further said the suspects would be charged to court when investigations into both cases were concluded.
Meanwhile, acting Governor of the state, Alhaji Sani Danladi, has approved the appointment of Mr. Aminu Kotolo as the new Deputy Accountant General for the state.
Also, a new Permanent Secretary for Government House in Jalingo, Mr. James Audu, had officially taken over the mantle of leadership from his predecessor, Mr. Siman Abithar.
In another development, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ussa Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Letum, defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party (APGA). Mr. Letum said he took the decision to effect some changes for the betterment of his people.
Director, Timothy Ande Letum Campaign Organization, Mr. Amos Tanpe, said the defection became imperative because Ussa council had remained underrepresented and underdeveloped.
Timothy Ande Letum, who is currently seeking to represent Ussa Constituency at the state Assembly, also used the occasion to present 50 national empowerment registration tickets to youth groups and charged them to make a judicious use of the opportunity.
