Bankole is SDP guber candidate in Ogun

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, is likely to be the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2015 gubernatorial election.
A source from the SDP told Daily Sun that former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and other leaders of the party had been holding a series of meetings with the Egba-born politician to use him in confronting the incumbent Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bankole has just lost out of the governorship race in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the announcement of Mr. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as the flag bearer of the party, based on the primary he won on December 8, 2014, which Bankole and eight other governorship aspirants boycotted.
The source said Osoba had told all the initial gubernatorial aspirants of the party that he did not have anointed candidate, urging them to let the party present only those who could win election for the party in the overall interest of all members.
The desire to use Bankole was borne out of desperate move to present a candidate that was well known to the people of Ogun State and could get a good share of votes from Egba, the Ogun Central Senatorial District where the incumbent governor, Amosun came from.
