PHOTO: Senator Shehu Sani presents Snake Charmers & Repellants to JAMB

Senator Shehu Sani presents Snake Charmers & Repellants to JAMB - BellaNaijaThe Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani on Tuesday stormed the headquarters of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) in Bwari, FCT with snake charmers.
Sani said, the visit, was with a view to getting to the bottom of the issue surrounding the reported case of missing N36 million from the JAMB office in Makurdi, Benue.
Philomena Chieshe, a sales clerk in the JAMB office, Makurdi, told JAMB registrar and his team that “she could not account for N36 million she made in previous years before the abolition of scratch cards.
“In the course of interrogation, Philomena denied the allegations that she stole the money but confessed that her housemaid connived with another JAMB staff to spiritually (through a snake) steal the money from the vault in the account office,” the report said.
According to Sani, his visit to JAMB is in response to the story that a snake swallowed N36 million.
He lamented that it was of concern that such a huge sum of money was reported to have been swallowed by a snake.
“I believe that the contribution I can make is to bring snake charmers from my constituency to the JAMB office and to help them fish out the snake and weed out snakes from their premises.”
Sani further said that if a snake could actually swallow N36 million, one day Nigerians may wake up to say that a snake had swallowed the country’s foreign reserve.
“Even if it is a spiritual matter, we believe that these people I brought, are some of the best snake charmers in the country and they will help in arresting both physical and spiritual snakes if there has been any in the JAMB office.”
He explained that it was very clear the incident did not happen during the tenure of the JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede.
“We are very proud of him. We believe he is someone who should continue to run this agency.
“It is good for Nigerians to know this is what happened before he came into office. I believe the best thing we can do is to continue to support him.
“It is high time Nigerians know that there may be other dirty things happening in other places but this place has exposed it for us. We know the truth and I’m very happy about that.
Sani presented snake repellents and chemicals to the board.
Responding, the Spokesperson for JAMB, Fabian Benjamin explained that on assumption of duty, the present registrar discovered that there were loopholes in the sale of scratch cards.
“We discovered a lot of loopholes. The registrar thereafter introduced pin vending.
“After introducing the pin vending, it was natural for him to call for an audit of the former use of scratch  cards.
“After taking stock, it was discovered that in some offices they could not account for what they sold.
“Ms Philomena Chieshe was entrusted with a number of scratch cards which she sold and N36 million could not be accounted for. When asked she actually said she sold them at the said amount, kept the money in the public vault.
“According to her, a snake swallowed the money.”
Benjamin further explained that in the spirit of transparency, inclusiveness and openness the agency felt that Nigerians should know what was happening.
He said Chieshe had been queried and has also appeared before a disciplinary committee.
“A report put together and sent to the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu and as soon as that report is approved, she will be disciplined and handed over to the appropriate security agency for proper profiling.
He also told Sani of another incident in Nasarawa State, where the staff member claimed that the unsold cards he was bringing to Abuja got burnt when the car he was travelling in was involved in an accident

PHOTO; Davido covers Fader Magazine with a Revealing Interview

Fader Magazine_DavidoDavido is on the cover of the global issue of Fader Magazine, and the cover story details his journey to America for college to where he is now. It’s titled, “How Davido Became African Pop Music’s Fortunate Son”.
The interviewer spent four days in Lagos and even followed David and his crew to Quilox for his brother’s birthday, where she said it was so similar to other clubs around the world,
The women hanging around the VIP are wearing the same crop-tops and cut-out dresses that I’ve considered buying from Instagram boutiques.
The magazine photographed him with his daughter Imade in her room, talked about the baby mama drama, but just in the context of him wanting multiple income streams aside from shows, they followed him to his father’s house and more. You can read the entire feature by Rawiya Kameir on the Fader website here.
Here are some highlights.
On Davido’s House
For the past three years, Davido, now 23, has lived in the posh Lagos neighborhood of Lekki, in a three-story house that welcomes a revolving cast of employees, friends, and hangers-on, with imported weed and liquor in constant supply and demand.Fader Magazine_FEATURE_DAVIDO_OWENS_07_WEB_xnuwstOn a Friday afternoon in December, he’s sitting on a couch in the home’s top-floor lounge, telling his life story to an audience of a half-dozen people.
At Davido’s house, the walls are dominated by portraits of Davido. Most of the pieces, including a five-foot tall Old Masters-style painting, have been painted by fans, who camp outside for as many as three days, waiting for Davido to accept their offerings.
On His Family House
Davido’s childhood home is just a few minutes’ drive away. Inside, there’s a grand marble staircase, and family photos spanning several generations line the walls of multiple living rooms. (Davido’s godfather, it should be noted, is Aliko Dangote, a construction magnate whose estimated $18 billion net worth has earned him Forbes’ title of Africa’s richest man for the past three years.)
On Atlanta Police Raiding His Home, Paid for in Cash
“I guess a neighbor must have tried to snitch. They saw me and thought, ‘How did that African get here?’” he says. “How do I explain to someone who’s never heard of me that I’m famous? I showed them all of my videos on YouTube. They loved it.”
The Fame
For Davido, the result has been a kind of fame for which there are few parallels. When I land at Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos to report this story and discover I don’t have the necessary yellow fever vaccination document required for entry, I successfully drop his name, much to the delight of a middle-aged official who asks me to pass on a message. “God bless our son, Davido,” he says.
A couple of days later, Davido performs at the wedding reception of family friends in Lekki’s Lagos Oriental Hotel. His five-song set was offered to the newlyweds by a family member as an ostentatious gift, much like the brand-new Bentley on display elsewhere in the hotel’s ballroom. Afterwards, he attempts to snake out of the hotel through a makeshift exit, his oblong face streaked with sweat.
Dozens of young men crowd the wings of the ballroom, undeterred by the armed soldier who is a member of Davido’s everyday security detail. Waiters drop their serving trays for a chance to touch him. Bartenders and ushers abandon their posts. Palms are thrown to faces, temples, and the sky in disbelief. But the wilder the scrum grows, the calmer Davido seems; similar scenes manifest nearly anytime he appears in public, and he’s accustomed to the hysteria. “Sometimes they want money, sometimes they want photos, but sometimes I think they just want me to see them,” he tells me later.
Fader Magazine_FEATURE_DAVIDO_OWENS_02_WEB_hi3sygThe Future – On Going International with Sony
The Sony deal, which was brokered in part by Nigerian-born, U.S.-based A&R Efe Ogbeni, will provide him with new resources to reach American and European fans. Davido envisions snagging an opening spot on a prime U.S. tour, a big push for a crossover single, and other traditional major-label marketing. Baddest will feature non-African artists—Future will appear on at least one song, Davido says—and strike an overall balance between Nigerian pop and American-inspired hip-hop. “I know what kind of songs work. The music should have everything in it—Jamaican, African, American, everything. Something like Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba,’ it has a cool feel to it,” he says, nodding to the song remixed by Drake and Skeptain 2015. “But are foreigners going to come to Nigeria to listen to that all the time? No. It has to have a pop influence.”
Davido thinks he will triumph where others have struggled because of his innate cultural literacy of both the U.S. and Africa, the result of being raised between worlds. Long before the internet erased them for the rest of us, money and travel erased borders for him. “I can be in the club with Meek Mill and Future and be on a level with them,” he says. “I understand what they’re talking about. I know what the trap is. These are things that some of these other guys, they don’t have it. They can’t have these conversations with the rappers, so how can they have them with the fans?”

Davido
“Life is all about the money”!
That’s a line from Davido’s song “The Money” with Olamide but if you’ve been listening to Davido’s songs from the way when then you know that he doesn’t mind talking about how much money he has or the fact that his father is a billionaire.
Davido knows how to spend money but more importantly, he knows how to make money. Everything he does is an investment – from his house in Atlanta to chunky gold chains!
Here are 3 things we learned from his interview with Fader
One
If you love Davido’s hit single featuring American rapper Meek Mill as much as we do, then you should know that particular record along set the 23-year-old HKN Label CEO back $200,000.
Using today’s exchange rate (N400 to $1), that would be about N80,000,000. In 2015 it would have been less by a couple million but that’s still a staggering figure. Guess you have to spend money to make money.
That song got him a lot of international buzzes and is one of his best singles out there.
Two
In the same interview, he also revealed that he averages $50,000 to $70,000 for private appearances on weekends and sometimes he has about 8 private shows a weekend.
$70,000 is N20 Million and multiplied by 8 that is some major cha-ching!
According to him, this has started changing because of the new government and the fact that people don’t want to be seen as too lavish anymore but he still gets at least 2 private gigs every weekend.
Three
Also in the interview, he talked about his upcoming album tentatively called “Baddest”. Davido revealed that he has spent more than $1 Million of his personal money in getting the album ready. This will be Davido’s sophomore album and will feature Future and other international artists.
The album will be released by Sony Music but just take a moment to think of how much effort and money Davido has personally poured into this album. We can’t wait to hear it.

Boko Haram Leader Shekau disguises as a Woman to Escape Capture – Army

Boko Haram leader Shekau disguises as a Woman to Escape Capture - Army - BellaNaija
The Nigerian Army says credible information indicates that factional leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, now dresses as a woman in an effort to escape from the Theatre of Operation.
Army Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, who confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday, said Shekau could no longer bear the heat and had abandoned his followers.
“He is running for his dear life. He is desperately trying to escape the theatre, disguised as a woman and dressed in Hijab.
“We reliably gathered that to avoid detection, Abubakar Shekau alternates between blue and black coloured hijabs. He was last seen in a black hijab.
“We, therefore, call on all those remaining Boko Haram terrorists to know that they are following a coward moving about in hijab and disguising as a woman.
“We also request all the remaining Boko Haram members to come out from hiding and lay down their arms and be treated humanely,’’ Usman said.
He said concerted efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fugitive terrorist leader.
The army spokesman, therefore appealed to members of the public, especially the residents of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to be more vigilant and security conscious.
He also asked them to be on the lookout for Shekau and other terrorists who might disguise as women to escape.
