Solange cancels AFROPUNK Joburg appearance over Health Challenge

Solange reveals private health struggle as she cancels Afropunk Joburg appearance

Solange
This year’s AFROPUNK Joburg which is meant to hold in Johannesburg from 30th of December will hold without one of its headline acts, Solange.
The singer revealed via her Instagram page that she has been treating an Autonomic Disorder for the past five months and will not be able to perform at the event. She was billed to perform alongside Thebe, DJ Cleo, Sho Madjozi, JoJo Abot, Anderson, Paadk and The Free Nationals, King Tha Vs Blk Jks, Petite Noir, Blitz The Ambassador, Laura Mvula and more.
She wrote:
Wrote, deleted and re wrote this like 5 times…
Still not sure what exactly or how much I want to share…
However it’s so important to me for the people in South Africa, a place that has tremendous meaning to me and that has given me SO SO MUCH, to know why I won’t be performing at Afro Punk this NYE.
The past five months I have been quietly treating, and working through an Autonomic Disorder. It been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me…
Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all.
It’s a complicated diagnoses , and I’m still learning so much myself, but right now, my doctors are not clearing me for such an extended lengthy flight, and doing a rigorous show right after.
I can’t put into words how saddened and sorry I am that I am unable to perform for you guys this NYE, there is simply no other place I wanted to be than there with my family to bring in 2018 with you…….but I give you my ABSOLUTE WORD I will come back with AfroPunk and deliver this performance…..as it is so extremely important to me to connect with the people who have so closely inspired me in so many ways.
I can’t thank Afro Punk enough for their support, and to all of the other festivals this past summer/fall who have known about my health, kept it confidential, and gone out of their way to make me feel supported while doing these shows.
As a part of the self care that I’ve tried to encourage this past year, it needs to start with myself, and I’m looking forward to doing a better job of this 2018.
This past year has been one of the most fulfilling of my life…
Performing this record and experiencing the energy exchange with you guys has been astounding, and I’m so excited about continuing to do the work I feel so absolutely humbled and appreciative to be doing next year. It gives me life.
In their statement, the festival organizers thanked Solange for her support while expressing their support for her during these trying times. AFROPUNK co-founder, Matthew Morgan says;
We would like to thank Solange for her ongoing support, and for sharing this year with us at AFROPUNK festivals around the world. It is incredibly important to those of us at AFROPUNK that she recovers and remains in good health. Her music and spirit has been a place of great comfort and inspiration to us as a community. And of course we are incredibly saddened that she will no longer be performing at the inaugural AFROPUNK Joburg this weekend. We at AFROPUNK would like to deeply apologise to all festival-goers and ticket-holders, but the circumstances of this news are completely out of AFROPUNK’s control. Solange was greatly looking forward to being a part of this historic occasion, and as her statement makes clear, she has vowed to come back to Johannesburg with AFROPUNK at a later date. Despite this very sad news, AFROPUNK Joburg continues to look forward to welcoming many of the world’s finest artists, creatives and music fans to Joburg’s Constitution Hill on the 30th and 31st of December.
The AFROPUNK Joburg festival holds from the 30th-31st of December with a BN representative in attendance.

A lesbian couple were found murdered with their throats slashed alongside their two children in upstate New York on boxing day and they have now been identified.

Shanta Myers, 36, and her 22-year-old girlfriend Brandi Mells were found dead inside the apartment where they had been living in Troy, just outside Albany, at about 12:50 pm on Tuesday. Myers' two children - five-year-old Shanise Myers and 11-year-old Jeremiah Myers - were also found dead inside the home. Myers has a third child, a son, who doesn't live with her.

Law enforcement sources told the Albany Times Union that the victims had been found bound and with their throats slashed. Police Chief James Tedesco described the slayings as an act of "savagery." He added there was evidence it was not a random act.

He said on Wednesday: "After being in this business for almost 42 years, I can't describe the savagery of this. I don't have the word."

The bodies were first discovered by a property manager after being asked by family to check on the welfare of the residents. Autopsies completed on Wednesday afternoon are expected to clarify the timeline of attacks and exactly how the victims were killed.

Police have said they still don't have a suspect for the murders, and don't want to release a potential motive in the fears of hurting their investigation.

Rev. Jackie Robinson said the family were much loved and respected in the neighborhood. He said Myers had worked as a bus monitor and her children were active in youth programs. Robinson added that he didn't know anything about Mells.

The pastor added that children at the youth center where Jeremiah played basketball were distraught and crying over news of the killings. He said community members were nervous because the killer remains at large.

Myers has been described by friends as a hardworking mother who was devoted to her children.

PHOTOS: Woman's botched nose job left her with an implant sticking out of her skin

Woman
A woman who got a nose job was left with a crater in her face after the silicone implant from the botched cosmetic procedure burst out of her skin.

The woman had reportedly opted for a cheap rhinoplasty at a clinic, with the hopes of getting a more pronounced nose. However, following the procedure, the woman began suffering from infections and later inflammation around the area of her face where the surgery had taken place.

Later, the silicone implant began to stick out of the top of her damaged nose, between her eyes. The clinic in the Thai city of Hat Yai where she had the procedure reportedly refused to help at this point.

The unnamed woman then sought out medical professionals near Thailand's capital Bangkok, where one plastic surgery hospital is said to have provided her with pro bono treatment to have the implant removed.

Pictures show the woman's nose now left with a crater where the silicone implant used to be. It is still unclear how medics plan to repair her botched rhinoplasty.

Meanwhile, photos of the woman's experience have since gone viral on social media, with cosmetic surgery clinics across the country sharing the snaps as a warning to nose-job-hunting woman.
