Otti pledges good governance for Abia State


The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Dr Alex Otti has vowed to put good government in place if elected governor in Feb­ruary 2015.
Otti made the declaration at a reception organized in his honour by the Umunneo­chi community on Thursday at the Unity Square in Nkwo- Agu Amuda, Isuochi where a mammoth crowd gathered to receive him as a mark of their support to him for the gover­norship race.

PDP risks losing Adamawa to opposition – Girei

A People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart in Adamawa State, Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei has warned that, unless President Goodluck Jonathan and the national leader­ship of the party urgently find a last­ing solution to the crises generated by non-conduct of party primaries in the state the party stand the risk of losing the February general elec­tions.

Fani-Kayode Appointed Chairman of President Jonathan’s Campaign Organization

Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria’s former aviation minister has been appointed as the Director of Media and Publicity for the President Goodluck Jonathan campaign team.
A statement issued by President Jonathan’s political adviser, Rufai Alkali, said the campaign group will be headed by former National Chairman of the party Ahmadu Ali (Director-General) and Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees Chief Tony Anenih (National Campaign Adviser).
Tunde Adeniran will serve as Deputy DG, while Minister of Special Duties Kabiru Turaki and former Anambra governor Peter Obi will serve as deputy DGs for north and south respectively.
Other team members include; Jerry Gana, Dr Aliyu Modibo Umar, Senator Nenadi Usman, Senator Nimi Amange, Ambassador Emmanuel Imohe, and Abdullahi Hussani Maibasira.

US working with Nigerian military to counter security threats-Envoy


The United States government said it is working closely with the Nigerian Military to counter threats to secu­rity in Nigeria and Af­rica.
The US Consul General Jeff Hawkins stated during the reception of a warship donated to the Nigerian Navy by the US government that the US and Nigeria have common interest in a peaceful, well policed Gulf of Guinea .He added that the donation of the warship will increase Nigeria’s ability to reach this shared goal.

Jonathan lacks capacity to fight insecurity, corruption – APC

The All Progres­sives Congress (APC) has urged Nigerians to use their votes to express their dissatisfaction with President Goodluck Jon­athan for his inability to fight the two main chal­lenges facing the country: corruption and insecu­rity, despite having been in power for six years.

We’ve been prudent with state resources – Amaechi


The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has attributed successful implementation of projects in the state to well-defined and purposeful use of funds.
Amaechi spoke yesterday, during the 2015 New Year State Banquet organized by the state, which attracted state dignitaries and political office holders.
He said: “We have been very prudent, we have managed our resources in such a way that we can stand our ground and tell people like Tonye Princewill, that we can’t steal money.
“I will publish the transaction of our power assets and I tell Tonye Princewill, and he knows that I don’t like money. Tonye Princewill had a problem with Tonye Cole. It is peer jealousy.
