Nigeria’s ambassador to the US has criticised Washington for refusing to sell his government “lethal” weapons to fight militant Islamists.

Africa Cup of Nations: Morocco will not host finals over Ebola fears

Morocco will not host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations because of its fears over the Ebola outbreak elsewhere on the continent, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has confirmed.
However Caf did not announce a new venue for the tournament, due to take place from 17 January to 8 February. It said it had had “some applications of national associations confirming their desire to host the competition”.

Sewol trial: Ferry captain sentenced to 36 years in jail


The captain of the South Korean ferry which sank in April has been found guilty of gross negligence and sentenced to 36 years in prison.
The Sewol ferry was carrying 476 people when it went down. More than 300 died, most of them school students.

Badeh Dismisses Helicopter Reports

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Alex Badeh, has denied reports in some sections of the media that he sent helicopter to his hometown in Adamawa State to evacuate members of his family hours before the fall of the town to Boko Haram insurgents.
