Seven Ministers To Disengage From Jonathan’s Cabinet

The Federal Executive Council in Nigeria has held a valedictory session in honour of seven ministers who may disengage from their ministerial positions to pursue their political ambitions.
The Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, Minister of Health, Dr Onyebuchi Chukwu, Minister of Labour, Mr Emeka Wogu, Minister of State for Education, Yesom Wike, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Dr Sam Otom, Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Darius Isiaku.

Texas college rejects Nigerian applicants, cites Ebola

At least two students from Nigeria who applied to a Texas college were told they wouldn’t be admitted because of Ebola.

Kamorudeen Abidogun, a Texas man originally from Nigeria, said he received two letters from Navarro College, a two-year community college with a campus about 58 miles from Dallas. Abidogun has five relatives in Nigeria who were applying to the school and who were using his home in Richmond, Texas, as a U.S. mailing address, he told CNBC.

Ebola winning the race, says UN official Anthony Banbury

The UN’s Ebola mission chief says the world is falling behind in the race to contain the virus, with thousands of new cases predicted by December.
“It is running faster than us, and it is winning the race,” Anthony Banbury told the UN Security Council.
The World Health Organization (WHO) says 4,447 people have died from the outbreak, mainly in West Africa.
Meanwhile, a second health worker in the US state of Texas has become infected with the virus.
Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea have been hardest hit by the epidemic, which began in December 2013 but was confirmed only in March.

EFCC withdraws charges against Ajudua in $1.69m fraud case

Reprieve came the way of Lagos socialite, Fred Ajudua Wednesday after a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja discharged him of an allegation of defrauding two Dutch businessmen of $1.69 million brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).Ajudua was charged alongside one Charles Orie for allegedly defrauding two Dutch businessmen of 1.69 million dollars.

Reps to begin voting on ammendment of 1999 Constitution

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, said that the house would begin clause-by-clause voting on the 71 harmonised and proposed amendments to the 1999 Constitution on Wednesday.

Tambuwal said this on Tuesday after the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, presented the report of the committee on the proposed constitution.
