Shamed Army major stripped of gallantry award after exaggerating own bravery

A British Army major who was awarded one of the country’s highest honours for gallantry has been stripped of his medal after being found guilty of exaggerating his own bravery.
Major Robert Michael Armstrong had been awarded the Military Cross for personal courage in the face of enemy fire and his calm leadership of the Afghan troops under his command, following an incident in Helmand in 2009.
