UPDATE, 3:38 p.m. ET: Zimmermann induced a soft groundout from
Adeiny Hechavarria to open the top of the ninth inning and then
Jarrod Saltalamacchia flew out to center field for the second out.
Christian Yelich drove a ball far into the left-center field gap that looked bound to drop in, but
Steven Souza
Jr. made a fantastic leaping catch to end it. That’s the first
no-hitter for the Nationals since the franchise moved from Montreal.
Baseball is just the best.

There are still three postseason races to be decided, but we’re also tracking history in the nation’s capital.
Jordan Zimmermann
has no-hit the visiting Marlins through eight innings Sunday at
Nationals Park and will head into the ninth on only 93 pitches. He has
10 strikeouts and has thrown just 21 balls to 72 strikes.
We’ll
bring you the ninth-inning updates as Zimmermann tries to wrap this thing up.
