Navalny says Putin's regime must be destroyed


Russian opposition leader calls for mass protests after he is given a suspended sentence and his brother is jailed.

Russia's top opposition leader Alexei Navalny has called for mass protests to "destroy" President Vladimir Putin's regime after a court handed him a suspended sentence and jailed his brother in a controversial fraud case.
At a hearing that was abruptly brought forward by two weeks, a Moscow judge on Tuesday found both Navalny and his brother Oleg guilty of embezzlement and sentenced them to three and a half years in what is widely seen as a politically motivated case.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, on Monday, said a plot by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to form an interim government has been uncovered.
The minister said this in Lagos at the launch of a book titled, ‘Watch the Watcher,’ written by an activist, Yinka Odumakin, in reaction to Obasanjo’s controversial book, ‘My Watch’

2015: PDP sure of victory in Kaduna –Sambo



Vice President Namadi Sambo is hopeful that with the overwhelming support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) enjoys in Kaduna State, the party will garner over two million votes in the 2015 general elections.
Sambo expressed this optimism during a unity and family meeting of the state chapter of the PDP which held at the Hassan Usman Katsina House, Kawo, Kaduna, on Sunday.
The vice president  also said he expects 100 per cent victory for the party’s candidates in other elective positions including that of the governor.

Lagos Disagrees With Sambo Over Comments On Heavy Taxation

The Lagos State Government has said the statement credited to Vice President Namadi Sambo that people were leaving the state in droves as a result of the heavy taxes imposed on them by the All Progressives Congress-led administration in the state, is untrue and ‘lacking in facts’.
In a statement on Monday by the Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Information and Strategy, Lateef Raji, the government wondered how the vice president, who was not known for courting controversy, could make such a statement.
It, therefore, advised Mr. Sambo, to in the future, make “simple greetings” instead of making “non-residential claims that are lacking in facts”.

Rivers APC lambasts Amaechi’s critics over funding allegation

All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State chapter, has taken a swipe at the critics of Governor Chibuike Amaechi, who accused him of funding his party at the national level.
The state Chairman of the party, Dr. Davis Ikanya, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the state chapter did not have such money to fund the party at the national level.
