Lagos blasts Sambo over alleged tax imposition

Lagos State Government yesterday castigated Vice President Namadi Sambo over his comments during his recent visit to the state that people were leaving Lagos in droves as a result of the heavy tax imposed on them by the state government.

FG loses N40bn to rice concessions, waivers, smuggling in 2014

The Federal Government’s backward integration plan for the rice industry is currently under threat and may subsequently suffer a setback. Daily Sun findings revealed that government may have lost a whopping N20 billion to concessions and waivers in 2014.
Indeed, the country may continue to lose an additional  N20 billion to smugglers of the commodity, except the Federal Government addresses the yawning gap under its backward integration plan for the rice industry.

Dickson laments killing of soldiers by pirates

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has lamented the killing of soldiers by suspected sea pirates along Bayelsa waterways.
Six soldiers were killed recently by suspected sea pirates in Sancta Barbara River and Azagbene community, Nembe and Ekeremor local government areas of the state respectively.

Anambra gov’s wife donates foodstuffs to inmates

Wife of Anambra State governor, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has urged prison inmates in the state to change their ways and turn a new leaf.
Mrs Obiano, who visited Onitsha, Aguata, Amawbia prisons, as well as the Daughters of Charity Orphanage Home at Fegge in Onitsha on Sunday, said: “I came to celebrate with you because as the wife of the governor, I am privileged to be the mother of all in the state; I see you as an important set of the big family.

Police arrest robbery gang members in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a two-man robbery  gang, who attacked a section of the state capital, Ado Ekiti on Christmas eve.
The command said the arrest was made possible because of the watertight security put in place to ensure a crime-free situation at yuletide.

Taraba: Transformation Ambassadors donate items to victims of insurgency

Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria (TAN) has donated items worthmillions of naira to the Taraba State Government for onward distribution to victims of insurgency and communal conflicts currently taking refuge in Jalingo.
The gift items, which were presented at Nukkai Primary School, Jalingo  was received on behalf of the government by the Head of Service, Government House, Jalingo, Mallam Aminu Jika, who appreciated the gesture, and used the occasion to harp on the need for unity and peace in Nigeria for sustainable development.
