Two current serving lawmakers and others were on Friday arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court for alleged assault.
The accused comprised Edo State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Hon. Philip Shaibu and the lawmaker representing Ovia South West, Sunday Aghedo as well as three others, the Nation reports.

They are standing trial for allegedly assaulting one Hon. Abdulrazaq Momoh whose seat has since been declared vacant following the incident.
Punch on Thursday, October 9, 2014, reported that the state police command commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, invited Igbe, Shaibu and another member, Folly Ogedegbe, at about 11am for questioning over the attack on Hon. Abdulrazak Momoh. Momoh, who is a Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker, is currently receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency Ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital after he was seriously injured on Tuesday night by thugs who reportedly scaled the fence of the legislative quarters where he resides.
