Trusth me, Because You need to See this! Duro Olowu’s Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Duro Olowu Spring 2015 Ready to Wear Collection - Bellanaija - September2014024
If there is one thing we love about Duro Olowu‘s designs – it’s that he can take his experiences travelling and infuse it with his signature aesthetics to make gorgeous clothes. The Nigerian designer has unveiled his Spring Ready-to-Wear collection for 2015 which is filled with his signature silk patchwork cape and of course elegant prints.
The collection was inspire by Duro’s trip to Saint-Louis in Senegal 6 months ago where the European and African cultures found a common ground in fashion. He adopted his love for the beautiful place and interpreted it in his RTW collection.
As usual, the collection is filled with prints, but that’s not all – there are also flirty silk and georgette layered dresses, frilly skirts, wide-legged trousers; and more.
Speaking on fusing seasons from the past with those of the present Duro said “I’m always hoping that someone will take something from one season and wear it with something from another“.

Ebola: NAFDAC to Prosecute Professor who Claimed Ewedu is a Cure

China-made Detection Reagent Of Ebola Virus Is Going To Be Exported To Africa
In the midst of the Ebola outbreak, several individuals have claimed to have the
panacea for the disease.  Kolanut, salt, Ewedu, and other food items have been
rumoured to cure Ebola.
The National  Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
has vowed to crack down on people who make such erroneous claims,
beginning with the professor who claimed Ewedu can cure Ebola.
Director General of NAFDAC, Paul Orhii made
the announcement yesterday, Vanguard reports.
Orhii reportedly stated that NAFDAC would arrest and prosecute a
Nigerian Professor of Ophthalmology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital,
(LUTH) who made the false claims about Ewedu.
“One consequence of these unsupported and possibly fraudulent claims is
that people may be misled into a false sense of invincibility on account of
eating Ewedu or bitter kola and drop their guards.
This is a national embarrassment and the Agency will not take
such uncorroborated claims by supposedly learned people
lightly… NAFDAC will immediately arrest and prosecute
any Nigerian making such unverified claims as that could mislead the public,
” he said.
In its efforts to crack down on individuals exploiting the Ebola situation,
NAFDAC has also arrested three Nigerian business men who imported
fake Ebola kits and expired hand sanitizers into the country.

The Battle gets Tougher as the Leonard & Maisamari Families get Evicted from Maltina Dance All Academy’s 1st Round

Maltina Dance All Season 8 - Bellanaija - September2014022
The picture is gradually becoming clearer and the dance battle for the
"10 Million Naira grand prize getting more intense as the Maltina Dance All 8
academy makes steady progress. The Leonard andMaisamari families could
not stand the twist, turns, frills and intensity of the show as they became
the first two families to be evicted from the show.

The two were evicted from the show after performing the “WaZoBia”
(Nigeria’s indigenous dance) and “Jive” dance routines.
They got the judges sledge hammer because of their inability to
creatively satisfy them with their performances.
The first eviction showdown had four families locking horns to
remain in the Academy. The Dide and Leonard families had earlier been
placed on possible eviction list after their “WaZoBia” performance,
while the Oladapo and Maisamari families could not impress
the judges after the “Jive” performance. After what the judges’
trio of Muyiwa Osinaike, Comfort Fedoke and Jeffery Page
described as an unsatisfactory performance at the various performance shows,
they were given an order to redeem their image and justify their stay in the academy.

The Oladapo Family set the tone for the “WaZoBia” performance at the
eviction night with “Nkpokiti” dance from Eastern Nigeria; the Maisamari
and Leonard families rocked with “Owigiri/ Agene” and the Dide family
nailed it with the “Bata” dance from the South West.
Muyiwa Osinaike said most of the families who have participated at the
eviction show down from the past till present always come back to the stage
with so much vibrancy and determination; he thus commended
them for their “WaZoBia” performance.

The “Jive” performance, which turned out to be a night of emotion,
opened with an energetic display by Dide family with a song titled
“This head I Hold“. They left the floor for the Leonard Family with
“One way or Another“. The Maisamari’s hit the stage with
“Living La vida Loca” while the Oladapo’s closed the night performance with
Don’t Stop Me Now“.
When it was time for the judges to announce the families that would be evicted,
the tension in the atmosphere was quite palpable as they found it
challenging determining the two families that would leave the academy.
One of the judges Comfort Fedoke, a professional dancer said the
“Jive” performance described the family performance as an improvement from
 the initial show.

After the high powered judges deliberations, they collectively reached
the conclusion that the Leonard and Maisamari families did not prove that
they could make it to the next phase of the competition, this earned them their evictions.
Jeffery Page, one of the judges, disclosed the families lacked
the basic elements of “WaZoBia” and “Jive” and that their performances
was a comedy of error because he did not feel the power and technique
needed for them to perfect the routines.

This notwithstanding, the evicted family representatives commended Maltina for the opportunity granted them to display their inbuilt talent and learn new dance styles. They promised to keep working on what they had learned from the judges’ corrections and improve on the dance routines outside the academy.
Apart from the 10 Million Naira grand prize, the first and second
runners-up in the competition will take home 3 Million and 1 Million Naira respectively.
The show, which hit the airwaves on Sunday 7th September 2014,
is being shown on AIT (7PM – 8pPM daily); Silverbird TV (9PM – 10PM)
and Ebony Live TV (7PM) Weekdays and (8:30PM) Weekend.
The grand finale would be aired live on AIT and Africa Magic channels on DSTV.

Lord of Ajasa - I deserve an award for pioneering indigenious rap music in Nigeria

In an interview with Punch this week, indigenous rap artiste, Olusegun Osaniyi popularly known as
" Lord of Ajasa, who was quite popular in the early/mid 2000s, says he deserves an award for
pioneering indigenous rap music in Nigeria. He said the new generation of indigenous artists sing 'nonsense' and still get endorsement, while they have been forgotten. Below is what he said...
"I pioneered indigenous rap music and today it has become lucrative and fashionable. Yet, these young musicians shy away from that fact. They try to hide it. If I don’t blow my trumpet, nobody will do it. But I deserve an award, recognition and endorsement because a lot of people look up to me as their mentor. Look at Eedris Abdulkareem and 9ice, for instance. I’m saying they should take care of the pioneers, but what impact have these new artistes really made in the society to deserve all the endorsements they are getting? I mean, they sing nonsense songs while we (pioneers) do evergreen and clean music. Yet they keep discouraging us. 2face is an exception I am okay with his brand of music, because his endorsements are well-deserved.”

Lord of Ajasa, who shot to stardom in 2005 with his single Otiya,
blamed his down slide in the music industry to some decisions he took
"I left the music scene after I got married in 2009 to delve into other businesses.
I started this movement long before these small boys emerged on the scene and
I paved the way for many of them. When I began, I didn’t know anything about music
and entertainment. I was simply making music for the love of it, while 9ice and Olamide
were following my footsteps. Whenever I made a mistake, they learned from it and got better. I was just a naïve village boy who came down to Lagos from Ondo State with no guidance.
I never knew the big names in Nigerian entertainment at the time,” he says.

Mz Chizzy: The Role of ‘Visions’ in Relationships

Love rocks! Few things can be compared to the joy of being in a strong, healthy and happy relationship. But you would agree that relationships require hard work, time, attention, planning, and executing activities that ultimately lead to the intimacy and happiness you so desire. Without the necessary efforts to keep the love alive, the relationship will wither. Do this for 1, 3 or 8 years, it’s eventually time to walk down the aisle…and suddenly there is a REVELATION!…which oftentimes becomes the genesis of a super story.
Let me to introduce you to Lanre – resourceful, pretty, hardworking Advertising Executive and God-fearing too. Lanre is engaged to be married to a widower. They have been together for 4years and she’s ready to tie the knot with the love of her life. It’s been a long time coming. “Have you asked for God’s blessing on this wedding? Are you sure he is the man for you? Let us go and seek God’s face” suggested Aunty Kella.
A visit to a religious leader reveals Lanre is headed for destruction if she marries le boo. The chances of her dying on her wedding night are as high as a mountain. Fast forward 3 days and it is end of engagement, end of her highly anticipated wedding. Lanre is 37.
Now here’s what I think… Deciding whom you’ll marry is hugely important and will affect extensively the rest of your life. Given the weight of this decision, it’s only natural to want reassurance that you’re doing the right thing. What I really do not understand is why that reassurance should come only from a religious leader – Pastor or Alfa in our part of the world.
No offense, but why is he seeing this vision when the couple is a step away from singlehood? Why not see it in their 1st or 2nd year of dating? Is it the same vision that gives a man the audacity to walk up to a woman and tell her that God has revealed to him that the lady in question is his wife when in actuality, all he has done is donate handsomely to a religious leader so that he will see the vision to his advantage?
Whilst it’s okay to seek HIS guidance in the choice of a marriage mate, where exactly do you draw the line? Whatever happened to praying on your own or with your would-be spouse?
What do you think? Would you listen to a religious leader’s advice to leave the man/woman of your dreams because he foresees danger…after dating le boo for only God-knows-how-long? Your heart tells you to stay. You know you are meant for each other, you have invested so much in the relationship. 5 years no be beans.
Breaking your heart and his is the least thing you want to do right now. Would you go ahead and cancel your wedding or would you listen to the late Joan Rivers who said – “Don’t follow any advice, no matter how good, until you feel as deeply in your spirit as you think in your mind that the counsel is wise.”
Please indulge us, what has He revealed to you while reading this article? Pray, tell!
